什麼是光纖?光纖的種類有哪些?

光是一種電磁波，可見光部分範圍為390~760nm，大於760nm是紅外光，小於390nm是紫外光。光纖中所傳輸的光範圍分別是：850nm、1300nm和1550nm三種。

光纖的種類

按照光在光纖中的傳輸模式，可分為：多模光纖和單模光纖。

單模光纖使用的光波長為1310nm或1550nm，光纖中心的玻璃芯很細，芯徑一般為9或10μm，只能傳輸一種模式的光。其模間色散很小，適合遠程通訊。

多模光纖使用的光波長多為850nm，中心的玻璃芯較粗，芯徑一般為50或62.5μm。其模間色散較大，因此限制了數字信號的頻率，適合近距離傳輸，一般為幾公里。
